Upload student rosters
I have 175 students, and individually entering student names to set up classes takes quite a bit of time. I was just curious if I can upload my students into classes using a .csv file. Thanks!
Hi Plickers friends,
Thanks to your awesome feedback, we’ve added the ability to copy-paste a class roster on Plickers! Woo hoo! We hope this comes at a good time for you to kick 2015 strong!
Best,
Jenn

Copy-paste for one class has NOT sorted this problem. We have 1000 students and we store their data (like most schools) in a database so we need to be able to upload easily from a spreadsheet or SIMs. I suspect the reason this hasn't got more votes is because a lot of schools look at Plickers, see you can't easily set up classes and then decide not to use it.

Using Excel, the names could be put into any format and if needed any character used as a delimiter between names such as semicolon, e.g. with Smith, John in cell A1 and Doe, Jane in cell A2, a formula =A1&";"&A2 would give Smith, John;Doe, Jane
The ideal would be for a carriage return to be used as delimiter as then a list of one name per line could be copied. -

Our rosters are already formatted like option B, but I agree with D. Rolley about be able to work with any of your formats.

Using a .csv file format we would be able to list firstname, lastname, and student number that would associate with the plickers card. It would not be difficult on our end. We just need an upload option on the part of Plickers.... pretty please with sugar on top!

This is an important idea. I dread entering 27 name, I can't imagine enter 200! I can enter in any format you like, A, B, C, or D! Just do it and I'll make it work! Thanks for listening!

Loved Plickers until I just saw you cannot upload a roster of names. Cannot express how disappointing that is and that you've been sitting on this for almost 6 months with school already starting. Was this originally made for a single class of elementary students or something? The novelty is amazing, but I agree with anonymous from Aug 22, 2014, entering 200 kids is ridiculous...
I could upload as choice B. -

I keep my class list in excel form in the form of first, last. Alphabetical by last name. One name at a time is gruelling.

Hi every one. This would be great, I agree ! As far as I am concerned, I have no impact on the format I get my list of names in. The usual format is an Excel spreadsheet with first names and names in separate columns.

I can print rosters in any form. I usually use Abc by first name since it's easier for me and my 508 students.

I tend to put my student names in as example B. Last, First--with so many students it is helpful to keep them alphabetical by last name. Thanks!

I totally agree with this idea! I teach general music and have close to 600 students, this would be awesome!

Us too! We'll work on this soon. Everyone: Help us out by answering this poll in a comment: What format is your roster in? Can you paste in a list with each name on its own line? Are names comma-ized?
