Sometimes you just want to pick a student at random to ask them a question verbally in front of the class. This is the power of Plickers - because I can see the misconceptions, I know when it is worth starting a discussion on that question. And sometimes it's good if the class see that the process of picking that student is random (i.e. cold calling) as it keeps them alert. At the moment, I use classtool.net random name picker fruit machine. It's very simple functionality, it would be great if it could be built into Plickers. After all, I have already gone to the trouble of entering a list of the names of students in my class. It would be a very simple piece of functionality to simply pick one of them at random.
