I would love to be able to type mathematical symbols.

There is a way to write exponents in the questions editor, like this (x + 2)², or this 3y³-2x²+1.
I know that the exponents don't look very nice, but it is a solution, for now.
For the exponent ² press "Alt 253", or simply copy it from this text. For the exponent ³ press "Alt 252".
I found other characters in this website:

PLEASE add math equations. This is the best tool for formative assessment I have ever found...and it would be amazing if it was available for math in all aspects!!!!!

I agree with those before me here; superscript notation would be a boon to math/science teachers.

Would be great to be able to format text with sub and superscripts as needed in chemistry. (Or math)

Some sort of equation maker would be nice so that it is easier to create math questions.

Currently, I am able to enter formatting tags to style text, e.g. bold and underlined. Since the edit box seems to be a simple textarea box, it accepts the tags. When displayed on Live View, the tags work. However, they do not display correctly in the Android app (which would be nice). Also, certain tags should probably be stripped (e.g. script tags and iframes)

As a Physics and Chemistry A-level teacher I need to use superscript for units and subscript for formulae. To use normal size text would reinforce a miconception.

It would be really nice to be able to underline parts of our questions or answers.

When writing chemical formulas, one must use subscripts. It is cumbersome to constantly pull them from google chrome. The same goes for superscripts in rate laws and equilibrium constant expressions.

I would like to use the app for math quizes but the ability to add equations and other math utilities prohibits this. Thanks!

There's no way to express exponents unless I use the ^.

I agree! Also, the ability to change colors for text would be great.

I always use screenshots when putting math equations into any program (powerpoint, google docs, etc). It ensures the formatting doesn't get messed up. I probably would not use an in-app equation editor because I'm quickest at writing equations in Microsoft Word.
For all who would like to insert equations now, using Plickers as is--type them in your favorite program than use a screenshot (http://www.take-a-screenshot.org/). Use the "Insert Image" button in the corner of the question to paste the entire question. If the answers also require math type I just include them in the question area. It took me about 10 min to put together 10 questions using this method.
