Mark a student absent
I would like to be able to mark a student absent, so I don't continually think they didn't respond. If possible, the fraction could represent the number of people present that day.
Example: I have 43 students enrolled in the class, 2 students are absent (which I would love to do via plickers - my first scan would be called attendance then if I could click their name and check a box or something to effectively eliminate them from the roster that day it would be amazing. I could do it differently if that is too difficult to program.) After the roster is adjusted for the day, I could tell if all the present students were scanned by the fraction on the screen showing 41/41.
Another option would be to change the color of a student in the grid mode to a 3rd color.

No news since 2014 about this feature ?
It's very important to add it, from my point of view !
In the scoresheet, we need to make a difference between an absent children and a children who don't answer to the question. Because if a children doesn't answer, I consider he's wrong, so I want to include it in his score. -

It is a very good idea

With the new ScoreSheets, this would be VERY important as not to lower a student's score based because of attendance.

I'd like to use it to track attendance too! Right now, I am having to follow a very tedious procedure for logging my time with students for Reading and for Math all across campus. I had wondered about using a QR scanner but think Plickers might also work....but I need to be able to use the results to populate a spreadsheet type of report... I use my phone all over campus, so using it to scan your card would be great if that info could then populate a suitable report with the right details....

I'd love to be able to use Plickers to take attendance. It also makes sure that students have their card.

I've checked, and the percentage correct answer, both in the app and in the report, is based on the number of actual votes, not on the total number of students in a class.

I tried to use archiving for absent students, and it works, the only downside is that the student's card becomes available again and could thus accidentally be given to a new student that is added to the class. If the original card is still available, the archived student will get it back upon unarchiving, but s/he will get a new card when the card has been given to someone else in the meantime.

Would it be a solution to archive that student temporarily, and activate the card again when the student is back in class?

Even if they can't add a feature to mark students absent, it would be nice if students who don't answer (absent or not) aren't counted in the final "percent correct" on the report.

I agree with this post! I am a specials teacher and sometimes kids are pulled out of my classes. It would be nice to mark them as absent.
