Allow webcam scanning
GradeCam has software that allows you to check scantrons using your webcam. I think Plickers is a phenomenal idea and it would be even more awesomer (deliberate use of horrible language) if kids could hold their cards up towards the camera as they walked out of the room. That way, teachers could post a one-question exit ticket on the board and collect data to the very last second of instruction.

Pouvoir utiliser une webcam serait tellement pratique ! Même sans réseau entre l'ordinateur et le téléphone ça marcherait !

My district does not provide a mobile device but it does provide a laptop with a camera. I'm not really willing to use my personal device for this. Thanks for considering.

Please add webcam functionality! You have already closed the tech gap among students by only needing one device, but teachers may or may not have a compatible device. Laptops are still pretty standard, as far as teacher-assigned tech goes, aren't they? In my county, we have access to GradeCam, so all of our laptops have cameras built-in. We have to sign out a cart with iPads, in order to use those. Bit silly for just needing one, though.

It would be a great use of a document camera/webcam by using a device that is already in operation throughout the day.

I would love to use my desktop computer and webcam (pointed out to the class) to have the students walk by and scan their cards. With classes up to 42 four times a day, it would be a great way to take roll and get an idea of what I need to focus on for the period.

I think webcam scanning would be useful. I have a usb webcam that I can pick up and move to scan with. It is HD so looks really clear. I also would not have to use my personal device to scan with or worry about wifi speed. Using the desktop computer would put me on 1 gig connection speed. It is just another way that plickers can be great.

I'd like to have Plickers be used for an exit ticket. So having the cards scanned using webcam is better.

Some of our teachers do not have a smart phone or tablet, but we all have Chromebooks. It would be great if we could use the webcam from the Chromebook to be able to scan the cards. Being able to use their document cameras would also be a great option.

The document camera I use is basically a USB webcam on a swivel and articulating head and I could totally use it to make Plicker work for my class. Of course I could always find someone to let me use their device, but it would be awesome to be able to use all options, including a webcam and/or browser based app.

I second what Benyka...it's a great tool for exit tickets. I also try to avoid using my personal device for school stuff. What the school supplies me with is a Chromebook.

I can't download any apps on my phone. I'd really love the webcam version.

Hi Nolan. I only have access to a Windows Phone or a PC with a webcam (which could be attached by a long USB lead and then pointed at students). You mention the original version was webcam-based - could a version be made available for Windows 7 (or 8)? (I wonder if you may be able to get some of the Geogebra software developers involved to help out.)

I would love to use a webcam in my room to scan. Wifi in my classroom is pretty much nonexistent. I am also on a pay as you go data plan. Poor teacher and all. Since you asked, the webcam would go at the front of the room just above the board where the question is being projected. In fact, a small window that sits on top of a power point or slide based assessment that shows who has answered the question so that there is feedback on the progress. I know that many of the interactive classroom systems out there have their own version of this. However, that is what I like about the Plicker idea. My lessons and technology tends to be a hodge podge of what is affordable, what I create, or the curriculum at the time. Plickers seems like a way to tie it all together. Thanks!

I would love to set up my document camera and just have the students swipe their cards under the lens as they walk out

Along with excel exporting the webcam feature is the most useful upgrade I can think of for Plickers. The biggest benefit to me would be the ability to have one less thing in my hands as I am teaching. I think I would also be able to move about my room a little more freely without needing my mobile device in my hands wherever I go.

I was thinking along the same lines as Matt Ross. As long as the camera can pick up the cards further away I would love this to be a reality.

How I would use a webcam with Plickers: I would setup a webcam in the room that is high and in the corner, so the webcam could easily see all the Plickers in the room. This would allow the students to answer without a teacher having to scan the room... it would also allow Plickers to be used without an iOS or Android device.
